Why is this so annoyingly un-friendly to it's users?
CCP would you mind please realising that many ppl playing Eve are not all computer junkies and therefore would appreciate something that just clicked and played with out all this file sorting carry on.
How about some simple and clear instructions on how to get the Sisi launcher with DOD to work for Mac without trying to download the whole dam client folder again at 12. something Gb? Or directing us to said link on how to do it?
Some of these instruction are akin to explaining to a car sales man to strip the engine down out of that Chevy on the lot and put it back together again then looking at him expectantly while giving him a Jamie Oliver recipe for apple crumble, and telling him these are the instructions on how to perform the Chevy engine rebuild.
My question is A. Can we please get a simple instruction package for Mac how to A download the dam thing without downloading another full size client. B. If the purge function is not adhered to how to reset the launcher to prompt the same questions again on start up so as to configure the location of the res cache folder.
I have both my server files inside the single Eve client at Eve Online p_drive / local settings/ Application Data /CCP /EVE/ c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility & c_program_files_ccp_eve_singularity
I use the Terminal window with this command to open SIsi : open /Applications/Singularity.app --args /server:Singularity
Which used to do the job nicely , until now?
But it still keeps trying to download the complete client again at 12Gb???
Any help here would be very handy right about now Thank you.

So I try'd to update the Mac client today and got the prompt to either use the client on demand or not. I opted not to since I know the Mac will crash, but now sisi is wanting to download the whole 16gis rather than use what I already have for sisi now. Should you select the download on demand if you already have the client installed, or is this patch a new full download either way? The prompt you probably got was 'would you like to migrate any existing assets now?' and some associated descriptive blurb. If you don't migrate your client build then of course it will try to download assets, because it doesn't have any assets in the right format to use. Ok. So does that mean I'm stuck downloading a new client now, or can this be stopped? If it can't then which assets can be deleted then so I don't have two sisi builds on my computer? (I'm running out of room here). Also bit of feedback, the dialog box that asks this is not very clear to those of us that are not programers. It really looked like it was asking if you wanted to use download on demand or not, but there was no hint it would download a whole new client if you say no.
Yes what exactly does that comment actually mean ? I am exactly in the same mind as Manssell, the whole thing is seemingly pretty vague in explanation thus far. Can you give us some clear instructions here please what we need to do to get the client working again without having full size multiple clients installed on Mac? Like put the square in the square hole and the triangle in the triangle hole rather than prompts that literally make no sense on the install. |

Well I'm having the same problems here.It tries to download the whole client , I followed all the instructions as per the blog info and I see the Shared Cache file in the master p-drive folder. I have Singularity on its own client etc.How do I stop it from downloading all that data or is there no way? As for the download it freezes on me as well , its got nothing to do with size it just doesn't download the data.

CCP Atropos wrote:It needs that data one way or another. If you don't have any stuff files (ie: they've been deleted already) then you have no choice but to download them again.
Ok well thats a shame. But either way it stalls and no traffic downloads at all from the launcher when it attempts to patch. Here is my current launcher Log File |

Ok for mac users having problems with the DOD client.
Firstly the problem was in the initial prompt to migrate the shared cache resource for me anyways due to the fact that my 2 eve client folder applications were named eve online tq.app & Singularity.app. So I think when the DOD launcher tried to migrate across it had a conflict as the target file was renamed and it couldn't access it there in causing me issue, could this have been the initial issue? As the target for shared cache is /Users/Name/Library/Application Support/EveOnline/p_drive/Local Settings/........etc When mine was actually called Eve Online TQ.app.
This is what I did downloaded a new instance of eve online then renamed it "Sisi" directed it to open for Singularity using the /Applications/EVE\ Online\ Sisi.app/Contents/MacOS/launcher --args /server:87.237.38.50 cmd in Terminal.
The launcher starts and prompts the user to migrate again , to which I said "yes" Then it begins to download the huge 12 Gb files to the shared cache folder which ended up being in the new download "eve online" file which it creates a new "eve online"root file (due to my original file name is eve online TQ),then it completed and I can access Singularity.
Then I cleaned up the files mess by firstly taking the new populated SharedCache file in the new Eve Online root files and moving it across to Eve Online TQ/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/SharedCache in my Original Eve Online Tranquility folder. Then renamed the original client from "Eve Online TQ" back to just "Eve Online" Then I deleted the new Eve Online root files that it created.
So now I just had the Eve Online app and my Eve Online Sisi app. Then Instead of opening the application from the shell window, you may also do this directly from the dock by creating an automator application.
Open automator, found in applications Select "Application" In the tree view on the left side, select "Library" and in its submenu, select "Tools" Among the choices to the right, double click "Run Shellscript" The right hand side should now contain a window in which you see the text "cat". Delete that and Locate your Eve Online Sisi in Finder right click on it and select "show package contents " from the drop menu. Then contents/MacOS/Launcher and drag the launcher into this window and Add " --args /server:87.237.38.50" The text should now be looking like /Applications/EVE\ Online\ Sisi.app/Contents/MacOS/launcher --args /server:87.237.38.50 In the File menu, select Save. Save anywhere you wish. To replace the icon of the newly created automator app
Locate the Eve Online app in Finder, right click, show info. Click the Eve Online icon in the top left corner, then CMD-C (copy) Locate the saved application in Finder, right click, show info Click the Automator icon in the top left corner, then CMD-V (paste) Now you may drag the newly created automator application to the dock.
Then to check the SharedCache is populating data in the correct location on the original eve online tranquility file just open Singularity and check the size of the SharedCache Folder before and after the update as it will update another 500 odd mb.
This worked of me after exhausting the easy routes, hope it helps anyone pulling their hair out. Thanks for the assistance guys. |
